Now, of course, this ISN'T A PUT-DOWN to our "blind race," but it's MERELY an observation, open for discussion--WHY IS IT that there are THOSE, NOT ALL, OF US, who ARE blind, THAT HAVE to UNNECESSARILY, CONSTANTLY ADD "BLIND" TO OUR USERNAMES--and in SUCH DEMEANING TERMS: "BLIND_MAN," "BLIND_BOBBY," "BLIND_THIS," "BLIND_THAT," ETC., ETC.--THAT would be JUST AS OBSURD AS "SIGHTED_SAM," "SIGHTED_SUSIE,"--OR, LET'S EVEN GO FOR: "BLACK_JIM," "WHITE_JOE," "CHINESE_CHUNG,"--SHIT! May as FUCKIN' WELL! How it's DEMEANING is that it expresses ANYTHING, RESEMBLING SYMPATHY. If a 20-20-sighted person were to come out with: "SIGHTED_SUMP'M-OR-OTHER" for THEIR username, would be ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENT--WHY should SYMPATHY be given to ANY OF US, JUST BECAUSE OF OUR EYE STATUS? To simplify this question, so that WHATEVER ANSWERS would DEFINITELY fit THIS equasion, APPROPRIATELY, I'll rephrase it: let's say that I'm a 20-20-able-bodied sighted person, equally as able-bodied as I am, blind, and I wore a sign around my neck, that simply says: "I'M SIGHTED," and I'd be wandering around in any particular blind-population-establishment, hoping to envoke sympathy, ESPECIALLY FROM THE TOTALLY BLIND, because of MY "DEBILITATING DISEASE," called "SIGHT," shouldn't I be JUST AS GUILTY as those of us that are BLIND that do that? IF SO, OR IF NOT, why? WHY, if neither of the above?
It might be even as absurd as Single and Available for a user name, eh? After all, you're using your status as a name tag, so why can't they? You're decreeing a clear fact, and so are they -- they're blind, and you're single and, heaven forbid, available.
Maybe before you rail against those who use their status as a sign, you should remove your own sign from about your neck, considering any other more-appropriate user name?

While I see where you're coming from, some people like to label themselves for different reasons.
Take my user name for example, fuzzy101, the fuzy part is a label because of my hair.
I like that and I I intend to keep that label.
Granted I don't use it everywhere but most cases I do.
I say we put blind or sighted before everyones names and that way we know who's who.
then we can ad, retarted and crazy to that list of name titles.

I agree with post 1. What's with all this labeling? What would happen if all you blind this and blind thats got together? Would you relabel yourselves according to your eye conditions? Obviously to some people, their blindness is their life. There are people out there tho whom their disability is important. Their interests are all blindness-related, and they are passionate about the blind causes, most of which I either don't know of or would rather not know of. Single and Aailable, you should change your name, to single and available but not to VI people who are passionate about their disability. BTW, I'd never date somebody like that, it'd be like living on a different planet. Everything would be talking, the only games they'd know anything about would be those accessible ones, oh and if I was to socialise with all their visually impaired friends, I'd have hundreds of talx-enabled phones talking. It'd get on my nerves!

I don't think there is anything wrong with a user putting blind in their name, if that's what they choose.
I, for one, wouldn't do it, but, that's just me.
However, if you're going to put them down for labeling themselves with their name tag, then you should take a good look at your own handle, before you do so.

As for the last comment about talks enabled phones, there's nothing wrong with software that makes phones accessible to blind persons who wish to use every feature on their phone.
